A Komodo tour from Lombok is a 4-day, 3-night sailing journey for travelers who want to experience the very best of eastern Indonesia by sea. Starting from Lombok and finishing in Labuan Bajo, the route threads together whale sharks, Komodo dragons, and some of the most photographed islands in the country — all from the deck of your own boat. If you’re staying in Lombok or the Gili Islands, this is the most rewarding way to reach Komodo National Park.
Su aventura le llevará a Labuan Bajo, un destino que ha sido designado oficialmente como un Prioridad En El Destino Turístico por el Indonesia Ministerio de Turismo, asegurando una alta calidad y experiencia de viaje inolvidable.
Rather than flying straight to Labuan Bajo and missing everything in between, this trip takes the scenic sea route east from Lombok, across the waters of Sumbawa, and into Komodo National Park. Over four days you sail from island to island, snorkel in clear water, walk with rangers among wild Komodo dragons, and fall asleep to the sound of the sea. The journey begins at Kayangan Harbour in Lombok and ends at Labuan Bajo on Flores — the gateway to the national park.
As a Lombok-based operator (Gili Trawangan Tour & Travel), we run this route regularly and handle everything end to end — your pickup, the fast-boat transfers, the sailing, snorkeling gear, and a professional guide throughout. Whether you’re a solo traveler, a couple, or a group of friends, the trip can be arranged to suit you, and because we operate locally you’re dealing directly with the people running the boat, not a faceless middleman.
Every departure is a little different depending on weather and sea conditions, but a typical 4D3N itinerary includes:
Day 1 — Lombok · Kayangan Harbour · Kanawa Island We pick you up from Lombok or the Gili Islands and bring you to the Golden Island Cruises Head Office for check-in and registration before transferring to Kayangan Harbour. The voyage sets off in the afternoon, sailing to Kanawa Island — time to hike the hill, swim, and relax on the beach. Dinner and your first night are spent on board as we sail on.
Day 2 — Whale Sharks · Tambora Sea · Sailing to Komodo The morning’s highlight is swimming with whale sharks in Saleh Bay. From there we sail across the Tambora Sea, where you can swim, take in the open-ocean views, and sometimes spot dolphins. After lunch, the boat continues its overnight sail toward Komodo Island.
Day 3 — Komodo Island · Pink Beach · Padar Island Trek into Komodo National Park to see the Komodo dragons with a ranger. Next is Pink Beach for snorkeling and relaxing, then an afternoon climb up Padar Island for its famous sunset view. The evening is dinner and a party night on board.
Day 4 — Manjarite · Kelor Island · Labuan Bajo A final morning of snorkeling at Manjarite and Kelor Island — coral reefs, turtles, and small reef sharks close to the beach — followed by a short hike up Kelor’s hill. From there we sail to Labuan Bajo, where your trip comes to an end.
Your journey starts with a pickup, then a short shuttle to the departure harbour. Here’s how it works:
So whether you’re relaxing on Gili Trawangan or based in Mataram, we bring you to the boat.

We run this same route on two boats, so you can pick the level of comfort that suits you:
Menami (Deluxe Boat) and Sehat Elona Boat (Luxury Boat) are vessels managed directly by their respective operators, with full control over onboard services, crew, and trip operations.
Not included: swimwear & towel, personal camera, and (depending on the boat/package).
Komodo is a year-round destination, and the manta rays and dragons are there in every season. The dry season, roughly April to November, generally brings the calmest seas and clearest water for snorkeling — the most comfortable time for the crossing. July and August are peak months, so book ahead.
Booking is simple: message our team with your travel dates, the number of guests, and where you’re staying in Lombok or the Gilis. We’ll confirm availability, arrange your pickup, and secure your spot on the boat.
Where does the Komodo trip from Lombok start and end? It starts at Kayangan Harbour in Lombok and ends at Labuan Bajo on Flores, the gateway to Komodo National Park.
Can I be picked up from the Gili Islands? Yes — free pickup is available from Gili Trawangan and Gili Air (as well as Mataram and Senggigi). Pickup from Kuta Lombok is available for a small additional fee.
Will I really see whale sharks and Komodo dragons? The route passes Saleh Bay, known for whale sharks, and includes ranger-guided walks among wild Komodo dragons. As these are wild animals, sightings can’t be guaranteed, but the odds are excellent in the right conditions.
How many days is the trip? The classic trip is 4 days and 3 nights, sailing from Lombok to Labuan Bajo.
What should I bring? Swimwear, a towel, sun protection, a camera, and any personal medication (including anti-seasickness tablets if you need them).
When is the best time to go? Year-round, with the dry season (April–November) offering the calmest seas and best snorkeling visibility.
