Komodo Island Tour from Lombok: Swim with Whale Sharks & Meet the Living Dragons

A Komodo tour from Lombok is a 4-day, 3-night sailing journey for travelers who want to experience the very best of eastern Indonesia by sea. Starting from Lombok and finishing in Labuan Bajo, the route threads together whale sharks, Komodo dragons, and some of the most photographed islands in the country — all from the deck of your own boat. If you’re staying in Lombok or the Gili Islands, this is the most rewarding way to reach Komodo National Park.

Votre aventure vous mènera à Labuan Bajo, une destination qui a été officiellement désigné comme un La Priorité De La Destination Touristique par la Ministère indonésien de Tourisme, assurer une haute qualité et inoubliable expérience de voyage.

What is the Lombok to Komodo boat trip?

Rather than flying straight to Labuan Bajo and missing everything in between, this trip takes the scenic sea route east from Lombok, across the waters of Sumbawa, and into Komodo National Park. Over four days you sail from island to island, snorkel in clear water, walk with rangers among wild Komodo dragons, and fall asleep to the sound of the sea. The journey begins at Kayangan Harbour in Lombok and ends at Labuan Bajo on Flores — the gateway to the national park.

Why book your Komodo trip with us

As a Lombok-based operator (Gili Trawangan Tour & Travel), we run this route regularly and handle everything end to end — your pickup, the fast-boat transfers, the sailing, snorkeling gear, and a professional guide throughout. Whether you’re a solo traveler, a couple, or a group of friends, the trip can be arranged to suit you, and because we operate locally you’re dealing directly with the people running the boat, not a faceless middleman.

Trip highlights: what you'll see along the way

Every departure is a little different depending on weather and sea conditions, but a typical 4D3N itinerary includes:

  • Kanawa Island — a short, rewarding hike to a viewpoint and swimming in crystal-clear water.
  • Saleh Bay (Teluk Saleh), Sumbawa — the trip’s signature moment: swimming with whale sharks, something almost no Labuan Bajo departure can offer.
  • Parc National De Komodo — walking among wild Les dragons de Komodo with a licensed ranger.
  • L'Île De Padar — the climb to Komodo’s most iconic three-bay viewpoint at sunset.
  • Pink Beach — one of only a handful of pink-sand beaches on Earth.
  • Manjarite & Kelor Île — snorkeling over coral reefs alongside turtles and small reef sharks.

Day-by-day itinerary (4 days, 3 nights)

Day 1 — Lombok · Kayangan Harbour · Kanawa Island We pick you up from Lombok or the Gili Islands and bring you to the Golden Island Cruises Head Office for check-in and registration before transferring to Kayangan Harbour. The voyage sets off in the afternoon, sailing to Kanawa Island — time to hike the hill, swim, and relax on the beach. Dinner and your first night are spent on board as we sail on.

Day 2 — Whale Sharks · Tambora Sea · Sailing to Komodo The morning’s highlight is swimming with whale sharks in Saleh Bay. From there we sail across the Tambora Sea, where you can swim, take in the open-ocean views, and sometimes spot dolphins. After lunch, the boat continues its overnight sail toward Komodo Island.

Day 3 — Komodo Island · Pink Beach · Padar Island Trek into Komodo National Park to see the Komodo dragons with a ranger. Next is Pink Beach for snorkeling and relaxing, then an afternoon climb up Padar Island for its famous sunset view. The evening is dinner and a party night on board.

Day 4 — Manjarite · Kelor Island · Labuan Bajo A final morning of snorkeling at Manjarite and Kelor Island — coral reefs, turtles, and small reef sharks close to the beach — followed by a short hike up Kelor’s hill. From there we sail to Labuan Bajo, where your trip comes to an end.

Where you'll be picked up (Gili & Lombok)

Your journey starts with a pickup, then a short shuttle to the departure harbour. Here’s how it works:

  • Meeting point: usually Senggigi ou Bangsal, from where a shuttle bus takes you to Kayangan Harbour.
  • Free pickup areas: Mataram, Senggigi, Gili Air, and Gili Trawangan.
  • Kuta Lombok: pickup is available with a small additional fee (around IDR 100,000).

So whether you’re relaxing on Gili Trawangan or based in Mataram, we bring you to the boat.

Good to know before you sail

  • Feeling prone to seasickness? Take anti-seasickness medication 30–60 minutes before departure, stay hydrated, and sit toward the middle of the boat for the smoothest ride.
  • Buy snacks in Lombok before you leave, as options are limited once you’re sailing.
  • Itinerary flexibility: minor adjustments can happen due to weather, sea conditions, or operational schedules. If anything changes, we’ll let you know in advance and arrange the best alternative — this is a sea voyage, and safety comes first.

How to book your Komodo tour from Lombok
