A few weeks ago, I had the chance to go to one of the best snorkeling trip in Lombok with Gili Trawangan Tour and Travel, and honestly, it was an unforgettable experience. I’ve always loved the ocean, but this trip made me fall even more in love with the Gili islands.
The day started with a hotel pick-up. I was greeted by the friendly staff from Gili Trawangan Tour and Travel, who made sure I felt comfortable and ready for the adventure. We chatted briefly about the plan for the day, and I immediately felt that I was in good hands. The drive to Tembowong Harbor was scenic, with lush green hills and the smell of the ocean in the air it was the perfect start to an island adventure.
Upon arriving at the harbor, we boarded the boat, which was surprisingly spacious and well-maintained. As we sailed away from the shore, I could feel the excitement building. The wind in my hair, the sparkling blue waters, and the distant islands on the horizon all made me feel like I was entering a little piece of paradise.
The boat ride itself was a highlight. The guide shared stories about each island, pointing out hidden spots and giving tips for snorkeling. There was laughter, chatting with other travelers, and occasional moments of quiet as we all gazed at the endless ocean. I even caught glimpses of flying fish and sea birds soaring above it felt like the journey was part of the adventure, not just the destination.
Finally, we arrived at our first snorkeling spot. Slipping into the water, I was immediately greeted by a vibrant underwater world. Colorful coral reefs stretched as far as the eye could see, and tropical fish of every shape and hue swam gracefully around me. It was mesmerizing.
I spent hours snorkeling between the three main islands: Gili Gede, Gili Asahany Gili Layar. Each spot had its unique charm some had massive coral gardens, while others had calm lagoons perfect for floating and just soaking in the beauty of the sea. The guide stayed nearby, ensuring everyone was safe while also pointing out unique marine life
After snorkeling, we docked at Gili Asahan for lunch. The island was quiet and still very untouched, with soft white sand and gentle waves lapping at the shore. The local lunch provided by the team was not only delicious but also gave me a taste of the island’s culinary culture.
After eating, I wandered around the island, taking photos of the stunning scenery, collecting small seashells, and simply breathing in the salty sea air. The island’s beauty was serene it’s the kind of place where time seems to slow down, and you just want to soak it all in.
I also had a chance to chat with a few locals on the island. They shared stories about life on Gili Asahan, the challenges of living in such a remote place, and the natural wonders that surround them. It made the experience feel authentic and added a personal touch to the adventure.
Now, I’ve tried other tour operators in the Gili islands before, and I have to say, Gili Trawangan Tour and Travel truly stands out:

Attention to Detail: They provide snorkeling gear, guidance, and even tips for taking photos underwater. Little touches like this made the day smooth and stress-free.
As the sun began to dip towards the horizon, we sailed back to Tembowong Harbor. The ride back was quiet and reflective. I watched the sky change colors, from golden to soft pink, and felt grateful for the day’s experiences.
The team then drove us back to our hotel, and I kept thinking about how perfect the day had been. Snorkeling, exploring islands, enjoying fresh local food, and traveling with a team that genuinely cares about your experience it was everything I could have hoped for.
