Yes. The Gilis sit just off the northwest coast of Lombok, and the most rewarding way to reach Komodo is by boat \u2014 not by rushing to an airport. From any of the three islands you make the short crossing to the Lombok mainland, then join a 4-day, 3-night sailing trip<\/strong> that heads east through the waters of Sumbawa all the way to Komodo, finishing in Labuan Bajo.<\/p>

How to get from the Gili Islands to Komodo<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The journey has three simple stages:<\/p>

  1. Cross from your Gili island to Lombok.<\/strong> A short fast-boat hop brings you from the Gilis to the Lombok mainland (the Bangsal area).<\/li>
  2. Transfer to the departure harbour.<\/strong> From there you travel across Lombok to Kayangan Harbour on the island’s east coast, where the sailing boats depart.<\/li>
  3. Set sail for Komodo.<\/strong><\/a> You board the boat and begin the multi-day voyage east \u2014 the real adventure starts here.<\/li><\/ol>

    From Gili Trawangan to Komodo<\/h4>

From there you travel together with our team across to Bangsal on the Lombok mainland \u2014 so you’re accompanied from the very start rather than finding your own way. Aim to be ready early, as the group needs to reach Bangsal in good time for check-in and the trip briefing.<\/p>

    From Gili Meno to Komodo<\/h4>

    Gili Meno<\/strong>, the quiet middle island, follows the same route as Gili Air: a public speedboat across to Bangsal on the Lombok mainland \u2014 again, an early start (around 7:00 AM<\/strong>) is best \u2014 where you check in and receive the briefing before the onward transfer. Let us know you’re staying on Meno in advance so we can arrange the smoothest connection.<\/p>

    From Gili Air to Komodo<\/h4>

    Gili Air<\/strong> is the island closest to Lombok, so the crossing is quick: a public speedboat from Gili Air to Bangsal takes only about 15\u201320 minutes<\/strong>. We recommend catching an early boat \u2014 leaving Gili Air by around 7:00 AM<\/strong> \u2014 so you reach Bangsal in good time for check-in and the trip briefing before the onward transfer to the departure harbour.<\/p>

    At Bangsal: check-in, briefing & the transfer to Kayangan Harbour<\/h4>

    Once you reach Bangsal, you’ll check in and receive the trip briefing before the onward journey to Kayangan Harbour<\/strong>, the departure port on Lombok’s east coast. How that onward transfer is organised depends on the group that day:<\/p>
